Dokyo Shingon-shu Sohonzan Tenpozan Eson-in
Enter the path.
Train in the living tradition of Shingon Esoteric Buddhism.
A gateway to Nyudan (入壇) — entering training — at Dokyo Shingon-shu Sohonzan Tenpozan Eson-in (道教真言宗総本山 天保山慧尊院), Osaka.

Who we are
We are a head temple in the syncretic Shinto–Buddhist tradition (shinbutsu-shugo, 神仏習合), preserving and transmitting Mikkyo (密教) — the esoteric teachings of Shingon Buddhism.
Why train here
The teachings of Mikkyo are not learned from books alone; they are transmitted, master to disciple, in an unbroken line. Our training is led by Ryukai, a master of Shingon Esoteric Buddhism who holds the highest ranks and scholarly titles of the esoteric clergy (Daisojo, Kyoju Ajari, Sekigaku, Shukyo). What you receive here is authentic transmission, not approximation.
Who may enter
We welcome those who wish to train, regardless of nationality or prior religious school. Whether or not you were born to Buddhism, the path is open to those who come to it seriously.
The path, in brief
Entering training — Nyudan (入壇) — begins at the point you apply for tokudo (得度, novice ordination). From there, the preliminary path through the shido kegyo (四度加行, the four-fold preliminary training) takes a minimum of approximately 120 days when it proceeds without interruption.

If you feel called to this path, the first step is simply to reach us.
